W środę nasze liceum odwiedziła trupa teatralna "Wild West Theatre", która swoje przedstawienie wystawia w języku angielskim. "Wild West Theatre" został założony rok temu przez dwóch aktorów: Mike'a Mareinkowskiego i Piotra Malasińskiego, którzy w swoich sztukach nawiązują do problemów takich jak: cyberprzemoc i relacje rodziców z dziećmi. Spektakl, który grupa wystawiła dla uczniów naszego liceum, nosił tytuł „The Night In”.

Aktorzy wcielili się w role syna i ojca, dyskutujących na temat odmiennych poglądów na życie, wynikających z różnicy pokoleniowej. Artyści bardzo angażowali się w swoje role, mimo, iż tego samego dnia wystawiali sztukę trzykrotnie. Postacie zostały przedstawione na zasadzie kontrastu, co rozbawiło publiczność. Fakt, że spektakl był po angielsku pozwolił uczniom na lepsze osłuchanie się z językiem. Przedstawienie zostało nagrodzone gromkimi brawami, po czym uczniowie mieli okazję do zadawanie pytań występującym. Dzięki temu dowiedzieliśmy się m.in., że spektakl „The Night In” był wystawiany w całej Polsce ponad sto razy. Na sam koniec aktorzy zrobili sobie pamiątkowe zdjęcie z publicznością.

Według nas sztuka była wartościową lekcją i mieliśmy możliwość, by wzbogacić nasze umiejętności językowe oraz "podłapać" trochę nowego słownictwa z dialogów między aktorami.

On the 12th of April all students of our school attended the play performed by two men. The actors decided to work together and called themselves „Wild West Theatre” One of the actors - Mike Mareinkowski (who played dad) was born in Chicago and is currently working as a native speaker (and an actor) in Poland. The other one - Piotr Malasiński is living in Cracow and is known for taking part in commercials and short films. Yesterday's show – „The Night In” was about difference between generations (so called "generation gap"). Each of them had different attitude to dating and was trying to persuade the other one to change his mind. In conclusion it suprisingly turned out that the old-fashioned dad, who valued honesty the most has given an important lesson to his modern son. After the play, the audience had an opportunity to ask actors some questions, but actually there weren't many volunteers. That's why actors decided to tell us a bit about their work and other plays that they perform.

In my opinion it was a very valuable lesson and we had an opportunity to improve our language skills and to catch up some new vocabulary from actors' speech.
